Alive draws inspiration from the poem Muere Lentamente (Dying Slowly), attributed to Pablo Neruda. At its core is the idea that a meaningful life requires the courage to embrace change, take risks, and follow one’s passions rather than remain confined by routine and habit.
The composition contrasts musical stasis with movement. Repetitive motifs built around the interval of a semitone symbolize the weight of habit, while more expansive melodic passages reflect the desire for transformation and renewal. Glissandi evoke moments of hesitation and vulnerability, expressing the fear of change before ultimately affirming the vitality and freedom of feeling truly alive.
