Crossing the river Vjosa
“Crossing the river Vjosa” for youth orchestra.
Commissioned and performed by El Systema Greece Orchestra (B-ME project).
“This piece blends musical material that is inspired from Albanian and Greek cultures. The title of the piece “Crossing the river Vjosa” comes from “Vjosa” (Albanian) or “Aaos” (Greek) river which is one of Europe’s last living wild rivers.”
*️ The B-ME project is implemented by Sistema Cyprus, El Sistema Greece and the Associação das Orquestras Sinfónicas Juveniles Sistema Portugal and is co-funded by the European Union. The project is pairing local composers with musicians from a refugee or migrant background to co-create original musical compositions that bridge the different cultural identities. These compositions were performed by the partners’ youth orchestras and are available for any other orchestras in the world.
