Aliferous (“having wings”)

Year: 2022 For: Solo Flute Duration: ca. 6′

Aliferous is a piece for solo flute. The word aliferous means “having wings; winged”(latin ala (“wing”) +‎ -iferous) and in this piece the word functions as a metaphor, reflecting a mental and emotional state of inner freedom. As the piece unfolds, a contemplative process takes place that leads to a decision to free oneself from fears and other internal“prisons” , overcome social conventions and burdens and reject compromises. Towards the end of the piece, fear gives way to desire, and the inner cosmos is filled with a sense of lightness and freedom.
